Don’t miss the great opportunity to learn more about butterflies and moths. National Insect Week, a brand new initiative of the Royal Entomological Society (RES), will be officially launched at the Darwin Centre, The Natural History Museum, London on Monday, 14 June 2004. Entomologists, MPs and VIPs will attend the event which will include speeches from the President of the RES, young entomologist Natalie Lawrence, entomologist Charles Godfray, Really Wild Show presenter Steve Backshall and a video endorsement from Sir David Attenborough.

This will be the biggest public initiative the Royal Entomological Society has ever undertaken. There is an amazing support from academic institutions, museums, media, professional groups and societies. From butterfly hunts to lepidopterological talks, there will be events taking place throughout the UK.

The organisers want to encourage entomology, not just from the point of view of scientific knowledge, but for sheer enjoyment. Experts will be on hand to help you learn more about the fascinating world of butterflies, including advice on identifying different species. You can even arrange your own butterfly activity.
