Coenonympha rhodopensis Elwes, 1900

Described from Rila Mountains, the valley of Levi Iskar by Henry J. Elwes (1900: On the Butterflies of Bulgaria. — Trans. ent. Soc. London 48 (2): 205 [original description]). Distributed on the Balkans and Apennines. The specimen shown here was photographed in Bulgaria, where it is found in many mountains.
