Huanaco Stgr. n. sp.’ Staudinger, O., 1894 (Hochandine Lepidopteren. — D. ent. Z. Iris, Dresden 7 (1) (14.VII.1894): 43, 56—59, Taf. 1: Fig. 7, 16, 18). Type locality: ‘Bolivien... Huallatani’ (= Huaillatani), near Cocapata, Province of Ayopayo, Bolivia (Field & Herrera, 1977: 40).
Lectotype male, in ZMHB Berlin, with labels:
— (1) handwritten (on white paper): ‘Huallat. | Garl.’; (2) printed (on white paper): ‘199.’; (3) printed (on pink paper): ‘Origin.’; (4) handwritten (on red paper): ‘Lectotype by | W. D. Field. | Trifurcula | huanaco Staud.’; (5) printed with handwritten inscriptions [here italicised] (on white paper, black framed): ‘Male genitalia | prep. W.D.F. | 6622’.
As it was mentioned by Field & Herrera (1977: 40) this species was described by Staudinger from 30 males and 7 females collected by Gustav Garlepp between 10 January and the beginning of March 1892. Most of this series was sold by Staudinger and many collections contain unlabeled syntypes. The lectotype (collection Museum für Naturkunde der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) was designated by Field & Herrera (1977: 40); figured by Staudinger (1892: Taf. 1: Fig. 16) and Field & Herrera (1977: 48: Fig. 28, 49: Fig. 40).
